Imagine that a genie came to you and offered to make all your dreams come true. You’d be able to achieve anything you wanted and be anyone you wanted to be. You’d be able to start fresh and create the life of your dreams.
Now, picture yourself doing exactly that, doing what you love and being who you’d like to be. Feel how good it is to be living to your full potential. Cool, huh?
We all have the potential to achieve anything and be anyone we want to be without using a genie. So why don’t we? We can be as powerful as Superman (maybe without the flying thing and the cape) if we give ourselves permission to explore our potential.
The infamous lamp shade
Throughout life we place so many limitations on ourselves that it is pretty much a miracle that we can achieve anything at all in life. It’s like we’re a table lamp. We start off as this bright bulb, but then we put a lamp shade on ourselves to prevent the light from shining too brightly.
Even though we may wear an attractive lamp shape, nonetheless, it’s a limiting device that stops us from being the blazing light that we are. We all have such enormous radiance that it’s a pity that we allow ourselves to be less than brilliant.
Dare to glow
To have the life you dream and to be the person you’d like to be, you need to let yourself shine like never before. Do you dare take off the notorious lamp shape? It’s not easy, but it’s totally possible. Be courageous and take the first steps:
No longer accept self-imposed limitations. Renounce the voice inside you that says that you can’t do it, that it’s too hard, that nobody has done it before, that you don’t have the time, that you’re too young, that you’re too old, and so on.
No longer accept limitations that society has placed on you. Refuse to take on limitations associated with your race, your gender, or your background.
No longer accept limitations that family and other people you know have placed on you. Decline limitations you grew up with such as ‘no one in our family has ever done that.’
Yeah we all shine on, like the moon, and the stars, and the sun. – John Lennon
Superman to the rescue
Limitations are to you like Kryptonite is to Superman. It makes you weaker and weaker when you are in contact with it. Be your own Superman (or Superwoman), and stay away from limitations as if your life depended on it. Understand that the life of your dreams depends that you stay away from limiting ideas and beliefs.
The more you surround yourself with self-empowering ideas instead of limiting beliefs, the higher you will soar.
Supersize yourself
Many people think that thinking big is synonymous with being egocentric or megalomaniacal. Actually, thinking big allows you to roam the world in wonder. As you get used to thinking big and expanding your imagination, you’ll notice that you don’t really have any limitations, except for the ones that you assign to yourself.
As you remove your lamp shade and all the “I can’t” from your life, you will feel like a field of pure potential.
In imagination, there’s no limitation. – Mark Victor Hansen
It’s a wrap
If a genie showed up right now, what life would you ask to have? Well, why wait for a genie when you can start the life of your dreams right now. Start by removing your lamp shade and renouncing limiting beliefs. Then surround yourself with empowering beliefs and let your imagination run wild.
Have fun imagining, creating, and then being a supersized you with infinite potential! I’ll be cheering you on!
Let us know the ways have you removed your lamp shade and allowed yourself to glow? Do you allow yourself to be as big as you can be? Tell us how you have supersized yourself.
With you always in my heart,
Andrea

A good inspirational post Andrea. We all need to hear what you said more often and live a better life.
Hi Abubakar! I’m glad you enjoyed.I’m all for a better life, actually, the best life we can conceive. :)
Loving blessings!
Hi Andrea! What a great post! I love the analogy that you used regarding the lamp shade and limitations. If only people believed in themselves there would be no telling what they could accomplish. There is nothing that is impossible, you just have to believe that you can do it!
Hi Nadine! Thanks! Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could let go of our limitations and really reach high? I truly believe we can. :)
Thanks for visiting! Loving blessings!
We already have the genie at work in our lives whether we like it or not.
It has different names like faith, belief or hope. It brings exactly what we believe about ourselves into reality. Its energy comes from the thoughts we thinks and the imagination that we color those thoughts with. The thoughts we think are influenced by our attitudes and our circumstances.
Unfortunately most of us focus on the things we don’t want and our genies name changes to worry.
Your words self-imposed limitations sums it up. Change limitations to expectations for a week and then you’ll fly.
Hi Andre! You are absolutely right in saying that we already have all that we need, including the genie. When we change our thoughts, we change our lives. It’s not as easy done sometimes but it’s definitely doable. :)
Thanks for the reminder and insightful comment! Loving blessings!
Andrea,
I just LOVE the lampshade analogy!! How true – we all shine amazing light…and yet…how often to we shade some of that in our lives? And for what purpose?
Reminds me of a quote by Marianne Williamson:
“…And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Hi Lance! Good to see you! I also love this quote. I have no idea what purpose we think we are serving when we block our light. Mostly, we act out of fear and conditioning. If we could just give ourselves permission to let go of the lampshade, what a world this would be…
Loving blessings!
The only self imposed limitation we have as humans is considering we are limited. Consider this. What would you do, if you knew you could not fail? What would you achieve?
Where would you travel to?
Who would you bring? How much money would you have?
And when will you stop reading this post and start living?
The answer is easy, its the action that’s hard. Start now!
Well said, the sky is the limit. Even though the answer is easy, some people don’t quite believe it. This prevents them from taking action. When we change our beliefs about our limits, action follows easily.
I’m with you, START NOW! :) Loving blessings!
I have glanced at a number of your entries and I had been thinking about if you wanted to swap blog site links? I am usually looking to swap links with blogs about very similar readers! I look forward to hearing back from you in the near future.
Hi Josiah! The site you entered for your comment is about welding. It didn’t quite match your request. Please send me your info through the Contact page so we can talk some more. Loving blessings!
